Four Types Material for Flat Wire Conveyor Belts

Metal flat wire mesh conveyor belts are very popular in a great variety of applications including food processing, industry and other processes. Compared with plastic conveyor belts, metal flat wire mesh belting features high working temperature, higher strength, easy cleaning, durability as well as little maintenance.

There are three frequently-used metal material for wire conveyor belts. They are galvanized low carbon steel (C1015), high carbon steel (C1050) and stainless steel (T-304 and T-316L). Each has its own character and application.

Galvanized low carbon steel C1015

  • Most common flat wire belt material
  • Low cost.
  • Resistance to rust.
  • Working temperature up to 500°Fahrenheit.

High carbon steel C1050

  • Higher strength at elevated temperatures.
  • Working temperature from 350 to 800 Degree Fahrenheit.
  • Greater abrasion-resistance than low carbon steel.

Stainless steel T-304

  • Food processing industry.
  • High resistance to most corrosive atmosphere.
  • Working temperature up to 1100 Degree Fahrenheit.
  • Corrosion resistance maybe lost above 800 Degree Fahrenheit.

Stainless steel T-316L

  • More resistant than T-304 to sulfuric, acetic and phosphoric acids.
  • Remain strong corrosive resistance at higher temperature.
  • Most expensive.
